Travel information ahead of Tour of Britain cycling event on September 2nd 2025

Residents and businesses along the route of a major cycling event coming to East Suffolk on Tuesday 2nd September are advised to be aware of temporary road closures and parking suspensions in their area.

Stage One of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men takes place in East Suffolk on Tuesday 2nd September, starting in Woodbridge and finishing in Southwold.

To ensure race safety, it will be necessary to close some roads, and to suspend parking in some of the towns and villages on the route.

Letters have been delivered this week to all houses and businesses along the route which may be affected by road closures or parking suspensions. Signs are also in place in areas where on-street parking restrictions will apply for the event and ‘no waiting’ cones will be put in position on Monday 1st September. Residents and visitors are asked to remove their vehicles from these areas before restrictions apply.

To minimise inconvenience, cones will be removed, and restrictions will be lifted as soon as possible after the race has passed through.

There will also be a rolling road closure in operation across the route for around 15 minutes before the estimated time of arrival until approximately 10 minutes after the last rider has passed.
