Discover the whole Aldeburgh story through displays and fascinating artefacts – how the town went from thriving fishing and shipbuilding centre to a fashionable seaside resort and artists’ retreat. The Tudor building (and its Victorian embellishments!) is extremely interesting in its own right.
Centuries after the Moot Hall was constructed as a civic meeting place here – a location then in the middle of thriving Aldeburgh town and in the centre the bustling marketplace – the building is still used for local governance. The upper room is now both council chamber and museum display room.
