Covering over 40 acres, the pleasure lake on which the Regatta takes place is dotted with islands and is surrounded by 60 acres of countryside. The Meare was created by Stuart Glencairn Ogilvie who had the vision for the Edwardian holiday village of Thorpeness.
One of the great attractions of the Meare is that it is very shallow (up to only 3 feet deep), providing an ideal boating environment for people of all ages wanting to enjoy time on the water or participate in this traditional annual event.
