Young and old alike are drawn to the Aldeburgh’s model yacht pond on Moot Green. Even without a boat to float, it’s a calm spot for an ice-cream or coffee and drifting off a while… It is a year-round favourite for mini waterborn adventures.

Aldeburgh Model Yacht Pond

The shallow model yacht pond has its origins in military water tank and was enlarged following the death of local doctor Dr Robin Acheson, whose wife Dr Nora Acheson was notably the first woman to support a lifeboat in action.

At the same time, a memorial was erected to Dr Robin in the form of a bronze statue of his dog ‘Snooks’. Today Dr Acheson’s dog is as much-loved, as the yachting pond itself!
