Aldeburgh Festival of Music & The Arts

About the Aldeburgh Festival

Sir Benjamin Britten and his partner, singer Peter Pears, founded the Aldeburgh Festival in 1948 since when it has developed into a pilgrimage for classical music and culture lovers from across the world. Internationally renowned and upcoming performers share their talents over the course of the two week early summer festival.

The concert series and arts events and exhibitions, underpin Britten’s firm commitment to making the arts “useful” and support positive change. The experiences on offer through the Aldeburgh Festival have proven power to transform lives, bring communities together and enhance daily life.

The Britten Pears Arts organisation was formed in 2020, on the merger of Snape Maltings (formerly Aldeburgh Music) and the Britten-Pears Foundation (responsible for running the Britten and Pears’ estate).
